Herbafertil Plantastic

A sustainable method of planting urban trees adapted to climate change

New young trees are being planted in parks, on children's playgrounds, tree-lined avenues, everywhere. Definitely a positive thing!

But did you know that up to 30% (thirty percent) of newly planted trees stagnates and collapses in the first three years after planting? The reasons are usually in an outdated and bad planting method that is not adapted to climate changes, and allows the tree seedling to sink as much as 20 to 40 cm into the soil, which suffocates it and ultimately causes it to dry out, as well as inadequate surface watering and insufficient care of the seedling in the first three years after planting. 30% of failed newly planted trees has a huge impact on the resources and budgets of cities or any other investor.

In contrast to standard planting methods, a Croatian innovative and highly successful, patented method of planting urban trees called the DRILL 2 FILL by HERBAFERTIL® planting method was developed.

In the 12 years of applying this planting method, a total of only 3% (three percent) of the 1466 trees planted stagnated or dried up!

The financial and other profitability is clear: up to 30% of dried seedlings using standard planting methods vs. 3% using this planting method, there is a big difference and savings in money and time.

INSTRUCTIONS

Drill 2 Fill method

Preparation

Dig the soil up to the root ball (min. diameter 80 cm).

Drilling

Drill holes 50 cm deep and 15 cm in diameter at the positions of the small roots.

Charge

Pour 1 kg of pelleted manure (Stallatico) into the bottom, place a Herbafertil® bag and cover with 5 cm of pine bark mulch.

Maintenance

Mandatory watering (15L of water per week per hole) with the addition of Ekovital starter.

Pit

Dig a pit the depth of the bale and the width of the bale + 50 cm (25 cm on each side).

Underground tanks

At the bottom of the pit, drill 3-4 holes 35 cm deep for the Herbafertil® bags.

Supplementation

Spread pelleted manure on the bottom of the pit to encourage root growth downward.

Irrigation system

construction of a drainage pipe (diameter 5 cm) from the surface to the bottom of the pit for direct filling of the Herbafertil® tank with water.
